Плитка фарфора которая смотрит как деревянный настил

One of the great things about working in the building materials industry is getting to see how lines of traditional building supplies are evolving to suit the needs of property owners on all kinds of levels.

The fact is that even in an industry that is known for being pretty traditional and unbending in the way that business is done (we at BuildDirect are working hard to change things in this area, too), there is a lot of creativity and even artistry in the manufacturing process of many kinds of building materials. For instance, tile flooring is made to create a home or working space that is comfortable and welcoming.

I suppose comfort is a pretty traditional value too.

This brings me to the subject of porcelain that looks like wood flooring.  Porcelain tile is acknowledged as a very practical floor and wall covering. Since it is totally impervious to moisture, it is also known as an anti-microbial surface, used traditionally (that word again) in hospitals and commercial kitchens. But, innovations in the porcelain tile manufacturing process has allowed for diverse patterns and subtle texturing. A great example of this is wood grain-patterned porcelain tiles for use in every room in the house or commercial space, bringing them out of the bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms.

One huge advantage of porcelain tile that looks like wood floors is that it is (as mentioned) completely waterproof, as well as being dent-proof, fade proof, and resistant to pet traffic too. As great as wood flooring is, there are some places in a home where they are extremely susceptible to these types of wear. In this, wood grain porcelain tile is a great solution.

The use of porcelain tile has expanded into places like living rooms, dining rooms, and kitchens. Lines of porcelain that looks like wood flooring has helped to lift porcelain from its purely practical applications into the realm of the decorative and stylish. Gone are the associations with cold, antiseptic, and impersonal surfaces. And here are the look of organic, warm wood grain. This is a welcoming (and welcome) addition to areas that are not known for a tiled surface.

Cheers!

Rob.

Обеспеченность двери: Стук, стук. Кто действительно там?

Opening the door to an intruder is the last thing any homeowner wants to do. New technology lets a resident really see and evaluate the situation outside his door.Home security begins at the door. That's where most home invasions occur simply because the door is opened to them.

While it is true a homeowner cannot keep someone out who's intent on violating the sanctuary of the home, it is also is true that there's no reason to open the door to trouble. The solution to this dilemma is to know who's on the other side of a door before unlocking it.

A peephole is one way to accomplish this. To some people, a peephole dates from the "Roaring 20s" when a gangster would gain entry to a speakeasy by uttering a password through a 2-inch-by-3-inch grilled opening in a door after a covering flap was opened. This apparatus evolved into the small, round, glassed peephole that remains a popular feature today in the front doors of homes and apartments.

However, the simple device has been improved through advances in metallurgy, plastics and optics. Where a peephole once offered a blurry, distorted and narrow view of someone on the front stoop, it now can give an undistorted look at a subject as close as a few inches or as far as 7 feet from the door, even in dim light. Modern lenses give revealing panoramic views.

Still, if squinting through a small, glassed opening strikes you as inconvenient, a new generation of peephole technology is available. It features a digital unit that attaches directly to the inside of a door.

When someone knocks, a resident of a home can press a button and a full-color video image of the area outside the door pops up on a battery-powered LCD monitor screen. Screen sizes range from 2 ½ to 5 ½ inches – each of them readable with your eyes wide open. Furthermore, unlike a regular peephole that's mounted at the eye level of the person who normally responds to the doorbell or knocking, the LCD screen can be viewed by persons tall and short.

A third door-security option is the door phone. One or more of these units can be connected to a single telephone line so that a homeowner can pick up his receiver and talk through an outside speaker to the person at his door. This can be used in conjunction with a digital door viewer or by itself.

Being able to identify a visitor from behind a closed door is a serious security upgrade.

Door ID considerations:

  • Modern peepholes give panoramic views.
  • Digital door views give even larger, clearer pictures.
  • Door phones let homeowner evaluate a visitor in safety.

Туалеты: Получите чывство для что самые лучшие для вашей Remodeled ванной комнаты

Modern toilets are water-saving fixtures, but they are not all alike in some basic ways. Picking one for your home is about as personal a decision as a homemaker makes.

The only throne most of us ever will sit on is located in the bathroom. It follows that choosing a suitable one in the course of remodeling the room should be a royal priority.

The first consideration is a toilet's fundamental shape. You might be able to think of a household fixture in which style points ultimately are of less importance than the toilet, but you would have to work at it. Tailfins on a toilet do not a better flush make.

Yet core shape does matter. Essentially, the two designs offered in standard toilet catalogs are round and elongated. Round ones tend to be less expensive and also smaller, meaning they will do the job where a bathroom's square-footage is limited. They sometimes do not do the job as neatly, however, because round is not as accommodating a shape as elongated when it comes to anatomical function. If a bathroom is of sufficient size – that is, if it can be traversed in more than two steps – an elongated toilet probably is the more practical choice.

A second critical decision in selecting a toilet is the height of its seat from the floor. The standard seat height of a dining room chair is 17-21 inches. A toilet seat tends to be lower, perhaps a lingering characteristic of the original toileting position. Admittedly, too high a seat could have adverse gravitational impact on the process and impair the essential function of human waste disposal. Still, using a toilet shouldn't feel like a throwback to the days of squat – and being seated on a 14-inch-high toilet is not far removed from them.

Thanks to ADA considerations, manufacturers now offer toilets with seats 16 ½ inches high or higher. For older users, the higher toilets offer two-fold relief – getting up is easier. But anyone of average height or taller will find them comfortable as well.

Modern toilets are far more efficient than their fairly recent precursors, typically carrying away waste using a gallon and a half of water instead of the old 5-gallon standard. This is significant considering America flushes anywhere from 5 to 7 billion gallons of water a day. Additionally, some models of tanks are pressurized for premium flush function, and inside some stainless steel or porcelain bowel housings the flushed water is routed in interesting ways.

For most home bathrooms, however, exotic flush systems or hi-tech designs are not as important a consideration as the basic shape of the toilet and its seat height. Comfort and function are what make a toilet fit for a king or queen.

Toilet-buying tips:

  • Round or elongated shapes offer different advantages
  • Seat heights range from low to almost chair-like
  • Flush systems vary slightly, but all use water efficiently
